Ulrich Schnelle was admitted to the German Bar in 1992 and ran Haver & Mailänder’s Brussels office between 1996 and 1997. His main areas of advice are EU and German antitrust law, state aid law, as well as aspects of contractual and corporate law with an antitrust background. In addition, Ulrich Schnelle has special expertise in private international law, in the rules of international civil procedure and in the procedural laws for cartel defences before European and in particular German courts.
Ulrich Schnelle studied at the universities of Passau, Geneva; and Freiburg, Germany (Dr jur); as well as at the university of Urbana Champaign, USA (LLM). He has published numerous articles – in particular on antitrust topics – and is managing partner of Haver & Mailänder, as well as head of the antitrust, state aid and public procurement practice group. He is lecturer at the University for Economics and Environment, and a member of the IBA and of various study groups.
In addition to German, Ulrich Schnelle speaks fluent English and French, and has a Russian language background.
