Virginie Viallard graduated from the University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne with a Masters in English and North American Business Law.
She also has a PHD in private law, obtained in 2005 with a thesis on « Le critère d’appréciation substantielle des opérations de concentration, étude comparée des droits communautaire et américain » (Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne).
Virginie Viallard started as an associate in the antitrust team of Bredin Prat in 2006 prior to joining the antitrust team at Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier. She then became Head of Legal for France at Apple before joining Magenta as Counsel in January 2013.
Virginie Viallard practices in all areas of competition law, both European and national. She has a strong experience in antitrust litigation and, for instance, assisted BCPE before the French Competition Authority and the Court of Appeal of Paris during proceedings relating to processing checks. In this case, one of the key issues was to determine whether the alleged practices had an effect on prices. In this regard, Virginie Viallard had to work closely with a team of economists.
