Walgreens Boots trims Rite Aid deal after US FTC concerns

A year and eight months after announcing that it would buy rival pharmacy chain Rite Aid for $17.2 billion, Walgreens Boots Alliance said today that it had dropped the merger agreement and instead would purchase fewer than half of Rite Aid’s stores.
