US FTC: Google harmed by "degraded” search advertising

In opening arguments in its case against 1-800 Contacts today, counsel to the US Federal Trade Commission argued that Google and other search engines were harmed by agreements that limit the ability of rival contact lens retailers to buy search advertising using 1-800 Contacts’ trademarked name.
