Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering sailed through their first merger clearance – in Kazakhstan – this week. The shipbuilders still have to secure approval in their home country of Korea, as well as in the EU, Japan, China and Singapore.
