Fine precedent: The Asia-Pacific Tipline for 1 May 2020

Hong Kong has received much needed guidance on how the territory’s specialist competition court will handle financial penalties related to violations of its competition law. Justice Godfrey Lam Wan-ho, widely regarded as the top competition judge in Hong Kong, followed precedent set in the EU and UK. Up in China meanwhile, a court issued the country’s highest private damages award, which many think could usher in a wave of private actions.
