Ban on third-party competitions protected speed skating from becoming a “betting spectacle”, governing body tells ECJ
A judge at the European Court of Justice has grilled the International Skating Union on whether its purported intent to prevent betting in speed skating is sufficiently “at the heart of the sport”, as the association sought to justify its restrictions on third-party events.
