The founder and managing director of PMCA Economic Consulting, Dr Pat McCloughan has more than 20 years of professional experience.
He has advised clients in Ireland, the UK and internationally in various aspects of competition, including mergers and acquisitions, dominance cases, horizontal and vertical agreements, cartels, state aids, market studies, intellectual property and competition compliance programmes. His clients include law firms, multinational corporations, SMEs, national competition authorities, national regulatory authorities, central and local government departments and business representative organisations. His experience extends across a wide range of markets, from agriculture and agri-food to manufacturing and construction to services and R&D-intensive activities. His recent assignments (2011 and 2012) include work for the Competition Authority and merger studies for private clients.
A PhD-educated economist, he has published in peer-reviewed economics journals, including The Journal of Industrial Economics, Applied Economics, The International Journal of Industrial Organisation, Construction Management and Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Telecommunications Policy and The Economic and Social Review. He also speaks at national and international gatherings on competition and regulatory developments.
