John F Rook QC chairs the firm’s national antitrust and competition group. He is a senior litigation partner with a broad competition law practice, including criminal and civil matters and class actions. Mr Rook has made numerous appearances before all levels of court including the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

He has appeared in many of the leading Canadian competition law cases before the Competition Tribunal and the courts, including both civil and criminal proceedings under the Competition Act. He recently advised the commissioner of competition in her review of the Labatt Brewing Co Ltd’s acquisition of Lakeport Brewing. Mr Rook also appears regularly in the federal and provincial superior courts on various commercial disputes as well as boards and tribunals involving competition law and related issues.

Mr Rook is a member of The Advocates’ Society and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1984. He has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating, AV, and is annually recognised as a leading competition law practitioner by Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business and other independent services.
