Dr Nadine Herrmann is managing partner of the Hamburg and Brussels offices and chair of the firm’s EU and German competition law practice. She is a German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwältin) and an English solicitor (England and Wales).
Dr Herrmann specialises in IP and antitrust litigation. Her antitrust practice is centred on the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law, where she advises on all aspects of FRAND licensing, including compulsory licences and their enforcement, covering all aspects of German and European competition law. Dr Herrmann represents her clients in German court proceedings and defends them in Commission inquiries. The author of a textbook on the 2004 Technology Transfer Block Exemption and on German unfair competition law, Dr Herrmann has been internationally recognised as an expert in IP and antitrust matters. She has practised in Germany, the UK and the US.
Before joining Quinn Emanuel, Dr Herrmann was a partner at Allen & Overy LLP, where she headed the firm’s German intellectual property practice. She earned her PhD in law from Philipps-Universität Marburg (summa cum laude) and her LLM from the University of Sydney.
In 2010, she was recognised as having one of the ‘25 leading careers’ in Germany by Handelsblatt magazine and is listed in IAM Patent 1000 2013 as a leading attorney who is praised for her ‘keen analytical eye’ and ‘impressive intellect’. In 2011, she was recommended as one of the ‘Best Lawyers’ in Germany for IP law by Handelsblatt/Legal Success. Law 360 named Dr Herrmann a ‘Rising Star’ in IP law in 2013.
Chambers Europe recognised Dr Herrmann as a ‘notable practitioner’, citing sources who say ‘she is an impressive lawyer with notable technical expertise.’
