Virginie Viallard graduated from the University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne with a master’s degree in English and North American business law. She obtained her PhD in private law in 2005, with a thesis on the merger assessment criterion, a comparative study of European and American law (Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne).
Virginie started as an associate in the antitrust team of Bredin Prat in 2006 prior to joining the antitrust team at Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier. She then became head of legal for France at Apple. Virginie also teaches European and competition law at Paris 2 Panthéon Assas and Sciences Po.
Virginie practises in all areas of competition law, European and national. She has strong experience in merger control, antitrust litigation and distribution law. in particular, she assisted the Caisses d’Epargnes with their notification before the French Competition Authority and other national competition authorities during their merger with the Banques Populaires and Geodis in the context of filings before the Commission and the French Competition Authority.
She also assisted BCPE before the French Competition Authority and the Court of Appeal of Paris during proceedings relating to processing checks.
Virginie also specialises in commercial litigation and consumer law.
