Sergio is a partner with Herbert Smith Freehills in Paris, where he heads the competition law team. He advises and assists companies in all areas of French and EU competition law: merger control; cartels; abuse of dominant position; distribution and cooperation agreements; competition law disputes; and state aid.
A practitioner with an excellent reputation, he advises a large number of French and international groups before the European Commission and the French Competition Authority, and represents several major French groups before the French and EU courts.
His experience covers a wide array of sectors, including media, agribusiness, chemicals, energy and infrastructure, consumer goods, financial services and retail.
He is a member of the Competition Lawyers Association (CLA) and the French Association for Competition Studies (ACS).
Sergio holds a degree from the Institut d’Études Politiques in Strasbourg and from the University of Strasbourg. He is admitted to the bar in Paris and in Barcelona, and speaks fluent French, English and Spanish.
