Agnete Gersing was appointed director general of the Danish Competition Authority in August 2006. When the Danish Competition Authority and the Danish Consumer Authority merged into the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority in August 2010 she became director general of the new authority.
Agnete Gersing has previously been deputy permanent secretary at the prime minister’s office (2005–2006), deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Finance (2000–2005) and director general of the Institute of Food and Resource Economics (1999–2000). Before that she worked at the Ministry of Finance (1994–1999), the Confederation of Danish Employers (1992–1994) and the Ministry of Economics (1991–1992).
Agnete Gersing is member of the Danish Productivity Commission, and chair of the expert committee on children, consumption and marketing.
Agnete Gersing holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen in 1991. In the same year she was awarded a gold medal from the University of Copenhagen for her thesis in economics.
