Canada: Cartel Enforcement

Competition law in Canada is governed by one federal statute, the Competition Act (the Act). The Commissioner of Competition (the Commissioner) is responsible for the enforcement and administration of the Act. The Commissioner is assisted in his or her duties by a staff of approximately 390 people at the Competition Bureau (the Bureau) and a group of lawyers from the federal Department of Justice who are assigned to provide legal assistance and advice to the Bureau.
